Lin-Manuel Miranda Launches ‘Love Is Love’ T-Shirts In Support of Orlando Victims
After his very emotive acceptance speech at the 32nd Annual Tony Awards, where he touched upon the power of love following the mass shooting in Orlando, Lin-Manuel Miranda transforms his iconic “love is love” phrase into shirts.
The “Hamilton” creator has announced new merchandise in support of the LGBT community and Orlando victims. What was meant to be a great night of dancing and fun turned into the worst mass shooting in U.S. history at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, as an armed gunman invaded Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., leaving 49 dead and over 50 injured.
“This is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s officially-licensed merchandise site. He says hello and thanks you for all the well wishes from the Tony Awards. There will be many amazing artist-provided designs up super soon,” reads the official statement.
If you recall the speech during the live broadcast of the Tony Awards, the quote that kept #trending was as follows: “Love cannot be killed or swept aside, Now fill the world with Music, Love, and Pride”
